Meet Our Staff

Pastor: Rev. Scott Davis

Born and raised in Marlborough, MA, Scott has called Michigan home for the last twenty seven years, where he served three churches as Associate Pastor and Senior Pastor. Scott was ordained to the Christian ministry at the First Church Congregational (UCC), in his hometown in 1998. He was educated in the local public schools and graduated from Brandeis University with a B.A. in English and American Literature and an M.Div from Yale University Divinity School.

Scott is married to Jennifer, a banker of thirty two years, with PNC Bank whose headquarters are in Pittsburgh, PA. Jennifer has extensive experience in risk management across various lines of business. Scott and Jennifer have been married for four years and together they share a son, Ian, who attends Kalamazoo College in Michigan, along with a furry troika of Max, Lorelai, and Sabine.

Scott and Jennifer enjoy travel, foreign as well as domestic, a good book, and homemade soup with warm, crusty bread straight from the oven. Seriously, we love soup, especially tomato soup.

Raised on all things Red Sox, Celtics (Scott attended John Havlicek’s last game in the olde Boston Garden), and Patriots, Scott has, over the years, developed an admiration shall we say for the Tigers, Pistons, and Lions, as well as a deep respect for the Michigan Wolverines (Go Blue!), especially their football team; this keeps Scott in the good graces of Michigan family. Whilst endeavouring to maintain an irenic spirit amidst competing loyalties, Scott should like to settle upon Mark “The Bird” Fidrych, the pride of Northborough, MA, next to Scott’s hometown of Marlborough, and the late, much beloved ace of the mound of the Detroit Tigers.

Scott is excited to begin his work among and with the faithful souls who call First Congregational Church home, covenanting together to share the love of our Lord Jesus Christ with all our neighbours in Nantucket and beyond.

Music Minister: Jeffrey Cutts, Jr

Jeffrey Cutts has been a member of the First Congregational Church staff since September of 2018, when he accepted the call to serve as Minister of Music, assuming roles of church organist, choir director, music librarian, and a personal, missioned role of composer-in-residence. In addition to his duties at the church, Cutts enjoys a vibrant and creative performing career as a vocalist, keyboardist, and conductor. He is the founder and artistic director of the Nantucket Summer Festival Chorus, an open community choir with a focus on performing major works. He is also music director and a founding member of vocal jazz ensemble, Nantucket Blue, and performs regularly with New York-based choral ensemble, The New Consort, including their historic premiere of Rosśa Crean’s “The Watchtower Psalms,” first performed at the First Congregational Church in Nantucket. Cutts has also been involved as a performer and music director with various theatre companies on island, including On the Isle, The Dreamland Stage Company, and Theatre Workshop of Nantucket.

Office Manager: Connie King

Before relocating to Nantucket, Connie spent 35 years living in the Greater Boston area and grew up in Asia. She has a professional background in mutual fund administration. A central guiding principle in her life is Romans 8:28, which reminds her that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.

At the church, Connie’s responsibilities include work in the areas of office administration, financial coordination, communications, and outreach as well as church space rentals.

Outside her work, Connie enjoys gaining insights into life, reading biographies, appreciating traditional music, and marveling at the beauty of God's creation.
